UNFOLD - An Origami Exhibition

The project brief required us to choose a particular moment in time as a point of refence and to design a temporary exhibition for the British Museum, Room 35 which is a space for temporary exhibitions.

Among over 30 topics we decided to make an exhibition about Origami.

The exhibition took the master paperfolder Akira Yoshizawa as a point of reference in the history of origami. It came from an inspiration of a young Akira exploring a fantasy realm of origami.

And the exhibition was named as UNFOLD - A Tale of Origami.

The exhibition takes visitors on a journey from the land, sky, space to planet as they unfold the subject of origami.

The respective sequential sections of the exhibition is divided into four sections:

Once upon a time...
describes the brief history of origami

The sky was white…
describes the art of paper making

Diamonds filled the space…

describes mathematics and science in origami

and Every soul is art…
describes the art and design of origami
